Referral Process for the Academy and Crossroads School
- Prior to the consideration of placement into the Livingston County Academy or Crossroads, the student should have a Behavior Intervention Plan. The plan must be in place and have been implemented to address the specific problematic behaviors prior to the referral.
- After having determined the student requires behavioral supports beyond those the home school district can provide, an IEP meeting should be scheduled.
- The LCSSU program supervisor will contact the Academy/Crossroads principal to arrange an IEP meeting. The Academy/Crossroads principal MUST be present at the IEP to determine appropriate placement.
- Any pertinent medical, social-developmental, psychological, disciplinary, or academic record information needs to be shared with the IEP team members to assist with the placement decision.
